Three Generations of Griots: Alhaji Bai Konte, Dembo Konte, Bakary Konteh, Bunja Conteh, Tata Dindin and Pa Bobo Jobarteh. This Pulse of the World Documentary series is by Jesse Wippert, with historic footage by Dr. Rodrick Knight, Lyrichord Discs, Mande Music and Dance.
Griot families perpetuate traditional values of the Mandinka peoples. The people listen to their wisdom at births, weddings and funerals.
Patrons celebrate good times by inviting Griots to serenade at their homes. This documentary accurately portrays the role, tradition, feelings and attitude of these cultural heros.
